APPEAL FOR STOPPING CRIME AGAINST HUMANITY CARRIED OUT BY BELARUS

The European Union, and especially countries bordering Belarus, are facing an unprecedented crime against humanity. The smuggling and pushing of undocummented migrants across the EU border, organized by Belarus (and the Russian ruling regime behind it), poses a serious threat to the health and lives of these people.

Lithuanian Green Party and Lithuanian people, seeing that this could lead to a particularly large-scale humanitarian crisis, ask responsible EU and international institutions, EU member governments and politicians to:

  • strongly urge the Belarussian (and Russian) regimes to cease their criminal activities;
  • to initiate the legal prosecution of those responsible for crimes against humanity and the organization of illegal migration;
  • to demand a temporary humanitarian corridor through which migrants can return home safely from Belarus in order to avoid danger to life.
